about amir ali
Amir Ali is a New York-based fashion designer/pattern-maker, and the grandson of an imperial guard to the Shah of Iran. Raised as a second-generation Iranian American in a family that fled the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Amir grew up in a home blanketed in Persian carpets, artifacts, and artwork. a country reconstructed in exile, room by room, and where he found his inspiration to design. Never permitted to visit Iran, he found his cultural inheritance in those objects, and his life's work in translating them to the western world. His designs merge traditional Persian prints and patterns with raw New York streetwear silhouettes, not to smooth the distance between those two worlds, but to wear it openly. Each piece is a reconnection with his roots, a challenge to western stereotypes, and an unwavering homage to the brave people of Iran.
